Maumere, August 15, 2025 – Fr. Nikolaus Meran Koban SVD, Deputy Board Member of Arnoldus Janssen Foundation (AJS) from Sankt Augustin, Germany, conducted a series of visits to several mission institutions in Flores during his vacation in Indonesia. The visits aimed to strengthen fraternal bonds while directly observing the progress of mission works in humanitarian, healthcare, and formation fields supported by Steyler Mission and AJS.

Visit to TRUK F Maumere

On Wednesday, August 13, 2025, Fr. Niko visited TRUK F Maumere and met with all staff members and Sr. Fransiska Imakulata, SSpS, Director of TRUK F. During the visit, he listened to progress reports on women's empowerment programs, including sewing and cooking training funded by Arnold Janssen Stiftung, as well as scholarship programs for survivors of sexual violence directly supported by Mission Prokur.

Fr. Niko also shared information about the role of AJS and Steyler Mission in supporting global mission works, including introducing their official websites as platforms for transparency and fundraising.

Inspection of SSpS Claver Lela Convent

The following day, Thursday (14/8/2025), accompanied by Sr. Fransiska Imakulata, Fr. Niko inspected the ongoing construction of SSpS Claver Lela Convent which will serve as a formation house for postulants and probationary sisters of SSpS Eastern Flores. He appreciated the high-quality construction standards, including the bathroom designs and private rooms for the formers.

"This construction is excellent, nearly meeting international standards. The sisters have ensured comfort and privacy for future missionaries," said Fr. Niko.

Visit to St. Gabriel Hospital Kewapante

After leaving Claver Lela Convent, Fr. Niko, together with Sr. Thomasin SSpS (Provincial Superior of SSpS Eastern Flores) and several other sisters, continued the visit to St. Gabriel Hospital Kewapante. There, he inspected the newly completed ICU and NICU units equipped with advanced medical equipment.

"These facilities are good, approaching international standards and can compete with government hospitals. The future challenge is maintaining service quality and the sustainability of equipment maintenance," emphasized Fr. Niko.

Appreciation for Mission Support

Sr. Thomasin SSpS, as Provincial Superior of SSpS Eastern Flores, expressed gratitude to Steyler Mission, AJS, and all donors who have supported the mission works in Flores.

"All this assistance means so much to us. This is not merely material aid, but tangible proof of solidarity in proclaiming God's Kingdom," stated Sr. Thomasin.

Fr. Niko's visit concluded with hopes that mission works in Flores will continue to grow, enabling more people to experience God's love through these services.
