Maumere, August 15, 2025 – Fr. Nikolaus Meran Koban SVD, Deputy Board Member of Arnoldus Janssen Foundation (AJS) from Sankt Augustin, Germany, conducted a series of visits to several mission institutions in Flores during his vacation in Indonesia. The visits aimed to strengthen fraternal bonds while directly observing the progress of mission works in humanitarian, healthcare, and formation fields supported by Steyler Mission and AJS.
Visit to
TRUK F Maumere
On Wednesday, August 13, 2025,
Fr. Niko visited TRUK F Maumere and met with all staff members and Sr.
Fransiska Imakulata, SSpS, Director of TRUK F. During the visit, he listened to
progress reports on women's empowerment programs, including sewing and cooking
training funded by Arnold Janssen Stiftung, as well as scholarship programs for
survivors of sexual violence directly supported by Mission Prokur.
Fr. Niko also shared information about the role of AJS and Steyler Mission in supporting global mission works, including introducing their official websites as platforms for transparency and fundraising.
Inspection
of SSpS Claver Lela Convent
The following day, Thursday
(14/8/2025), accompanied by Sr. Fransiska Imakulata, Fr. Niko inspected the
ongoing construction of SSpS Claver Lela Convent which will serve as a
formation house for postulants and probationary sisters of SSpS Eastern Flores.
He appreciated the high-quality construction standards, including the bathroom
designs and private rooms for the formers.
"This construction is excellent, nearly meeting international standards. The sisters have ensured comfort and privacy for future missionaries," said Fr. Niko.
Visit to St. Gabriel Hospital Kewapante
After leaving Claver Lela
Convent, Fr. Niko, together with Sr. Thomasin SSpS (Provincial Superior of SSpS
Eastern Flores) and several other sisters, continued the visit to St. Gabriel
Hospital Kewapante. There, he inspected the newly completed ICU and NICU units
equipped with advanced medical equipment.
Appreciation for Mission Support
Sr. Thomasin SSpS, as Provincial
Superior of SSpS Eastern Flores, expressed gratitude to Steyler Mission, AJS,
and all donors who have supported the mission works in Flores.
"All this assistance means
so much to us. This is not merely material aid, but tangible proof of
solidarity in proclaiming God's Kingdom," stated Sr. Thomasin.
Fr. Niko's visit concluded with
hopes that mission works in Flores will continue to grow, enabling more people
to experience God's love through these services.
